Mehidy Hasan Miraz Destroys TKR to Send Guyana Through in CPL 2026

Trinbago Knight Riders have been eliminated from the 2026 Caribbean Premier League after suffering a six-wicket defeat to the Guyana Amazon Warriors at Providence Stadium on September 12, as reported by the Guyana Chronicle.

It was TKR's seventh loss of the season, leaving the defending champions rooted to the bottom of the standings.

Off-spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz collected 4-23 to take the man-of-the-match award, following his 3-13 in the previous match. Shamar Joseph contributed 2-27 as TKR were restricted to 126-8 from their 20 overs.

How TKR's Innings Fell Apart

TKR were invited to bat on a good surface and fast outfield. Colin Munro and Alex Hales put on 41 for the opening wicket, with Munro doing most of the scoring.

When Miraz entered the attack in the fifth over, he dismissed Munro (26) and captain Nicholas Pooran for a golden duck off back-to-back deliveries, reducing TKR to 41-2.

Hales made 22 before veteran leg-spinner Imran Tahir, 47, had him caught at 59-3 in the tenth over. Miraz then bowled Jyd Goolie and Sunil Narine in quick succession.

Justin Greaves top-scored with 35, but Joseph removed him with a delivery clocked at 151.1 km/h to leave TKR at 99-6.

Kieron Pollard (10) was caught at long-on off Dwaine Pretorius, and Joshua Da Silva fell to a stunning one-handed catch by Veerasammy Permaul on the cover boundary. Akeal Hosein's unbeaten 12 carried TKR to 126-8.

Steady Chase, Hetmyer Fireworks

Hunting 127, the Warriors lost opener Mavendra Dindyal for 19 in the first over of the run chase. Shai Hope and Glenn Phillips then steadied things. Phillips fell for 11 in the seventh over, and Shimron Hetmyer lifted the crowd with three sixes in a 28-ball 28.

A diving catch by Greaves ended Hetmyer's innings at 93-4.

Hope remained unbeaten on 42. Quinten Sampson joined him to finish the match, the pair adding an unbroken 34-run stand. Hope sealed the victory with a six, bringing the total home in 18.4 overs.

Tahir Reaches Milestone, Warriors Confirm Top Finish

Imran Tahir's single wicket in the match took him to 13 for the tournament in the franchise column, drawing level with Mohammed Nabi. According to Cricbuzz, that tally placed him fourth overall in the wicket charts.

The victory was Guyana's eighth of the CPL season. TKR finish the group stage without making the semi-finals, despite being the defending champions. All five of Guyana's home fixtures at Providence drew capacity crowds, according to the Guyana Chronicle.
